It's the middle of January and I am in my professional job tracking the implementation of the RDSP for thousands of disabled individuals here in Toronto.
My long-term friend and colleague John Dowson (Executive Director LifeTrust Planning)and I (past Treasurer of Toronto Community Living)were talking about how the RDSP has grown since we sat around the table with Jim Love, Bob Wilson of Legacy Private Trust and other EDs of various disability service providers on how to create the Registered Disability Savings Plan. At the time we were looking at a formal trust that contributions could be made into. It is fun to look at the notes from these original meetings and see how many of these ideas have made it into the current RDSP.
It helped that Jim Love was the lead on the RDSP concept paper (and old school mate of Jim Flarherty) and John Dowson had been a contributor.
